A new Japanese buffet restaurant that took over the space previously occupied by Shokudo in The Heeren, Kiseki offers various different kinds of food items that are commonly found in average Japanese cafes, all-you-can-eat style, at relatively affordable prices. Surprisingly, it is pretty satisfactory. Raw seafood are all pretty fresh, and meats are nicely grilled, although a lilttle too charred. For $32.80++ on weekend nights, you get sashimi, sushi, fresh seafood, salad, yakitori, teppanyaki, pasta, omelette, grilled meats, hotpots, noodles, hotplates, drinks and desserts at satisfactory standards. Definitely worth a 2nd visit, especially is you have a good stomach!

Paradise Dynasty & TWG Tea Salon

Paradise Dynasty is a new establishment by the Paradise Group, which focuses on Shanghainese cuisine, and serves renowned dishes like 拉面,小笼包 and various appetisers.

 Signature Dynasty Xiao Long Bao

油焖竹笋

Stir-fried la mian with pork and fungus

Their signature xiao long bao supposedly consists of 8 different flavours, namely original, szechuan, cheese, foie gras, truffle, ginseng, garlic and crab roe. Honestly, the individual flavours are so subtle, that i cant really tell the difference, except for the szechuan, which is distinctly spicy. If you like your xiao long bao soupy, i don't recommend you order the cheese one, because theres very little soup left in it as it is mostly absorbed by the cheese. Overall, just a gimmicky way of serving xiao long bao. The bamboo shoots and the fried la mian are a little too oily, but pretty flavourful. maybe their steamed items might be worth another try.

Lemon Bush tea macaron

Raspberry yoghurt cake

Very nice ambience, very comfortable to sit with a group of friends, and mull over their endless choice of teas. I think even if you were to come here every week, u can only finish sampling all their tea flavours after at least a year. Didn't try the macaron, but the raspberry cake is not too bad, with the sourness of the raspberries and yoghurt frosting balancing with the creaminess of the cream cheese. Not too bad to pair with teas. Will definitely come back again.

Prices are not cheap, atmosphere average, service sucks.

Aburiya & Black Cafe

Another primarily visual post....starting with the Japanese BBQ Restaurant that left many raving about....

the most important part of our dinner....a charcoal stove!

Portobello mushrooms with butter and soy sauce ($6.90)

Wagyu set consisting of prime short rib+finger rib+cube cut+outside skirt ($31.90)

Kurobuta rosu aka Kurobuta pork loin ($9.90)

Beef tenderloin ($13.90)

Tontoro aka Pork cheeks ($8.90)

Portions are pretty small, but just nice for 2 small eaters....overall, the quality of food is pretty good...esp the wagyu and kurobuta meats.....and they have various cuts of meat and different seasonings for you to choose from...personally, i feel that the best seasoning for meats would be Shio, which is just salt & pepper....gives the meats a little flavour, without overpowering its original taste....food here is not cheap, but worth a try!

Earl Grey lavendar tea + Green tea latte ($9.50)

Red velvet cake ($6)

The 2nd branch of this cafe (flagship branch is at raffles place, i think) is located in Somerset, and their menu is a mixture of a little of everything, with drinks, cakes, desserts, mains and even all-day breakfast. The tea is pretty refreshing, with the lavendar smell adding a nice dimension to the boring earl grey....the green tea latte, however, is too sweet and too milky for my liking....and the red velvet cake is the 1st i ever had....and also the worst cake i have ever eaten! it is totally hard and dry (although not cold), and totally void of the cherry taste that is supposed to be in the red layer (that is how it got its name i guess)...to put it simply, it will take some courage for me to try another red velvet cake again, thats how bad it is.
