Fathers' Day - Crab and Durian cake

Honey Braised Pig Trotters

Fried prawns with superior sauce

Chye Poh Beancurd

Baked Crab with Salted Eggs

Goodwood Park Hotel's Legendary Durian Cake

Went to try a cze char place in Tampines which was featured in 1 of the previous "City Beat" episodes, and was famous for their crab dishes (hence their stall name). Quality of food was average, but could be better. Prices are pretty reasonable, depending on what you order. My advice is to stick to the crabs and maybe the meats as mains.
Dessert was a 1.3kg durian cake from the all-famous Goodwood Park hotel. True to its name, the durian cake was really a chockful of pure, solid durian flesh, sandwiched between layers of soft sponge, decorated with sponge bits on the top and durian cream around the borders. Quite worth the money, especially since UOB has 15% discount now.

Putien - Revisited

After trying their ala-carte buffet, which is ok only and not very worth the price, i went back again to try their ala-carte dishes from the menu only because i had a return voucher from the previous meal.

"Pu tien" style century egg

Fried eggplant with pork floss

Fried "Hing Hwa" Bee hoon

Chicken cutlet in Fermented Red Rice wine

Stir-fried garoupa slices with rose and champagne

The dishes this time was much better ( dunno if its because we were all very hungry) than the buffet, especially the eggplant dish. I was never a fan of eggplants, but somehow, the combination of fried eggplant plus sweet pork floss is pretty good! The century egg dish was very interesting too, and gave a whole new dimension to century eggs. The rest were not too bad, but nothing very special. The worse dish was probably their so-called famous Hing Hwa bee hoon, simply because there was nothing nice about it.

Barcook Bakery

After hearing about it since donkey years ago, i finally get a chance to try it! Its 1st outlet is at Hong Lim Complex, and since business was so good, they opened 2 more outlets at OUB Centre and The Central

Serious baker at work to produce our freshly-baked bread

There are many other flavours of breads and cakes, some are unique to the different outlets, go try them for yourself!

避风塘

Don't be confused by its name, this restaurant serving Cantonese-fare has no connection to another famous restaurant in Taiwan with the same name. This restaurant is owned by a Singaporean, who has hired chefs from HK to come all the way down to whip up authentic Cantonese food for people in Singapore.

Ginseng and Snow Pear Chicken soup

Watercress and Pork Rib soup

Sour Plum and Garlic Chicken

Scallop and Mango Roll

Braised Ee-fu Noodle

Every week, there will be 2 kinds of Double-boiled soup on sale, and this week are the 2 above. Generally, i think the food here is not bad, except for the fried items which are pretty oily. They also serve La Mian and Congee for single servings, and prices are pretty affordable. I will came back again to try those next time.

Zen Cafe & Icecream Chefs

Came to try their 1-for-1 4-course Lobster set menu.

Sashimi Platter

Drunken Lobster Soup

Lobster Laksa

Lobster Mee Sua

Birds Nest

Mushroom Ice cream

Orange Lychee Flavour

Cappucino+Choc+Waffle Crisps

The whole lobster set was $88.80 per person, but i don't think it is worth the price, even with the 1-for-1 promo. I will prob only pay $40 at max for it. The cafe is probably trying a little too hard to jump into the fusion/contemporary cuisine bandwagon, so unless they revamp the menu or come up with something really special, i probably won't go there a 2nd time as the food there isn't cheap.
Icecream Chefs, however, deserves a 2nd, 3rd, 4th visit as their ice creams are pretty smooth, rich, and not icy. Only grouch is that there isn't alot of flavours, so if they do not come up with new ones regularly, i may get bored of it after awhile.

Have been too busy to blog these days, so pardon the long wait! I have also decided to cut short my reviews, and let the pictures do the talking. And probably add in my 2-cents worth too!
Came across this place in Ieat, I shoot, I post's blog, and since its near my place, decided to give it a try.

The famous Fried Eee Mee

Seafood Hor fun

Jing Du Pork Ribs

Crispy Beancurd

Generally food is not bad, but i don't like the crispy beancurd and i think it is not worth the price. Ingredients for the noodles and horfun, however, are pretty stingy. Overall, worth a 2nd shot.
