old-school ice-kacang machine
assorted raw seafood
Of all the choices on offer, only the salmon, oysters and prawns are worth piling on...
cream of mushrom soup
Tastes suspiciously like Cambell soup....the Black Chicken with Ginseng soup (picture not taken) is much better...
Lamb chops with sauteed potatoes, ayam buah keluak, chilli crayfish
My lamb is not properly cooked, and still rare....but my friend's one is ok....it just shows that the cooks are not consistent....the ayam buah keluak doesnt tastes like how i imagined it to be....and the buah keluak is hard! But the chilli crayfish is acceptable...
Stir-fried beef, seafood beancurd, beef rendang, stingray (clockwise from bottom left)
Nothing special about all 4 dishes, probably the stingray is the best among the 4...
beef steak
Ordered it done medium...it came out a tinge towards medium well....texture of the meat is pretty rough, but still acceptable....didnt really have expectations of this....
pulut hitam
Not too bad, should have paired it with ice cream instead of coconut milk, which is an oversight on my part...
Durian pengat, nonya kueh, cherry cake, corn cake
The cakes are not worth trying, but the durian pengat and nonya kueh is not bad...if i had more room in my stomach, i would also try the durian cake and the ice kachang...
old-school titbits
Out of the misleading amounts of jars containing old-school titbits neatly placed on 2 shelves, we can only take the 4 or 5 jars that have been placed on the buffet counters...and the rest are just for display only....this buffet is a little over-priced, even with the UOB promo of 1 dines free with every 3 diners, and each of us end up paying about $30....without the promo, it is $32+ for lunch, and $38+ for dinner....unless u can stuff your stomach silly with raw seafood, beef, lamb and desserts, no point trying....
